About Spokn
Spokn is a simple communications tool from Packetmobile (a provider of IP based services to companies in the telecom and internet sector).
It consists of three parts:
- Web Dashboard - a web service where you manage your Spokn account (add contacts, see your contacts' presence status and much more)
- Mobile - a full-featured communications client (rich presence, instant messaging, click-to-call, push-to-talk) for mobile phones (Symbian and Windows mobile)
- Desktop - a full-featured communications client (rich presence, instant messaging, click-to-call, conferencing, push-to-talk) for desktop computers (presently Windows; Mac & Linux clients coming soon)
Getting started is simple
1. Login to the Web Dashboard from www.spokn.com.
2. Add contacts - click on the tab "Add contacts" and invite your colleagues and friends.
3. Download Spokn mobile to your phone, and Spokn desktop to your computer. It takes less than two minutes.
For both mobile phones and computers
The full Spokn service is available for Symbian phones (Nokia 6630, 6632, 6680 & N70) and Windows Mobile phones (Smartphones & Pocket PC).
For all other data enabled phones, we will soon offer a Java client which delivers rich presence and instant messaging (IM).
You manage your Spokn account and add contacts from any computer via Web Dashboard, accessible here at www.spokn.com.
If you would like to use your desktop computer to IM and call (in addition to your mobile phone) — simply download Spokn for desktop to your computer after logging in to the Web Dashboard.
What does it cost?
While we are beta testing, Spokn is a free service. In the future we will offer subscriptions tailored to meet different needs.
LTP — Lightweight Telephony Protocol
Spokn is built entirely on open source platforms. The service is powered by LTP (Lightweight Telephony Protocol), which is developed by the Spokn team based on many years of pioneering work in Voice over IP technologies. LTP will be released into open source as soon as our trade mark application is finalized.
